In total, the number of visitors (residents and non-residents) exceeded 4.2 million airline passengers in the first ten months of this year, an increase of 1% with respect to the 4.1 million of the same period of 2012.

Compared with the years 2010 and 2011, loss of dynamism is visible, but it must be remembered that several situations arose in these periods, including the global crisis of 2008-2009 and the impact of its consequences.

In the month of October, 14,904 more tourists arrived in the country than in the same month of 2012, an increase of 5.5%. The greatest proportion of arrivals were non-resident foreigners, particularly through Punta Cana Airport and from North America, followed by Europe and South America.

At the end of the month of October, the year-on-year non-resident foreigner tourist flow growth rate, in terms of trend-cycle, rose sharply by 6.8%, which is a positive indication for the generation of currency for the country.

The tourist sources with greatest growth were the United States, Russia, Germany and Brazil, according to the report, which also indicates that 93.2% of visitors came for recreational purposes.

Increasingly more tourists are choosing the Bávaro zone as the destination in which to spend their free time, and there are also increasingly more people getting to know the products of Iberostate with the objective of fulfilling the dream of owning a house in the Caribbean.
