The second of February is a very important date on the religious calendar for Bahía, as it marks the celebration of Iemanjá, one of the most revered orixás (goddesses) of the Candomblé (a very popular religion all over the country), considered by all Baianos as the Queen of the seas and oceans. On that day, thousands of people gather in the Rio Vermelho neighborhood in Salvador to renew their vows, give thanks for blessings received, and make requests, always on the seashore, where they prepare offerings to the orixá, with lots of flowers and decorations in the colors of Iemanjá: blue and white.

On the occasion of such a symbolic day, on Saturday February 1, Iberostate Praia do Forte organized a very special event in homage of Iemanjá. In addition to décor specific to the occasion, with the sales stand decked with flowers and blue and white decorations on the tables of the bar and buffet, guests were provided with a meal full of delicious sea-food choices, the highlight of which were the Moquecas de Camarão (a shrimp stew and one of Bahía’s most famous and typical dishes) with side dishes under the signature of the renowned Restaurante Yemanjá, our partner at the event.

In the area set aside for the buffet offered by Restaurante Yemanjá, beautiful flowers decorated the table where the moqueca, pirão fish stew, farofa de dendê manioc flour and shrimp and rice were all laid out, and to serve and demonstrate the food we were able to count on the presence of waitress staff dressed as typical Bahianas wearing blue and white, further lighting up the event with much smiling and cheerfulness.

Guests were able to enjoy a splendid Saturday full of tasty food, color, and a special selection of typical music from Bahía played by DJ Sávio Savá.
