Benefits of Paddle Tennis

19.08.2013

Playing paddle tennis is a fantastic way to build friendships between neighbors, and a healthy and wholesome activity for young people to enjoy together.

After going down a storm in countries like Spain, Argentina and Mexico, paddle tennis is making waves in the Dominican  Republic too. Slowly but surely more courts are appearing and tournaments being held for the practice of this healthy sport.  There are currently over 70 courts across the country, and in 2011 the official federation FEDOPADEL was established.

As it is easy to learn the basics and is a team game, it is the perfect sport for those who want to keep fit while having fun with friends.

Some of the main features of the game are:

It is an accessible sport.
The rules are simple.
It is fun, sociable and competitive.
You do not need any complicated equipment.
It encourages players to develop various attributes in pairs (collaboration, competitiveness,
capacity for hard work and self improvement).
Strength, speed, stamina and flexibility are required.

On first sight it may seem very similar to tennis, since it is also an aerobic sport which involves hitting the ball with a racket and because the scoring works in the same way, but it differs from tennis in that the walls are used to play, the racket is shorter and more solid and is called a paddle, and the rhythm of the game is faster.

Playing paddle tennis is a fantastic way to build friendships between neighbors, and a healthy and wholesome activity for young people to enjoy together.  It is suitable for both adults and children, and in recent years it has become one of the most popular family activities among owners at Iberostate Bávaro, who have taken to organizing their own mini family tournaments.

The tennis courts and paddle tennis courts, which are completely free to use, complement the sports facilities Iberostate offers to its owners, who are also able to use the gym at no extra cost and enjoy substantial discounts at the golf course.
