Project TAMAR

Praia do Forte is home to the national headquarters of the TAMAR Project, aimed at protecting sea turtles in Brazil. Researchers work on the protection and reproduction of several species of Brazilian marine turtle, particularly the loggerhead turtle.

The Tamar headquarters in Praia do Forte cover an area of 10,000 m2 and is the most comprehensive and modern visitor center in the country. Visiting is a must for nature lovers, who will come into contact with a range of marine species during the two-hour tour.
