Between July and October, visitors to Praia do Forte will have the opportunity to see whales up close and watch their beautiful movements and acrobatics. In the open sea, tourists can watch this amazing spectacle of whales measuring up to 16 metres long and weighing around 40 tonnes.

These tours are available throughout the day, in speedboats, catamarans or schooners belonging to the Instituto Baleia Jubarte, in which a 25 kilometre trip will be made to where the greatest concentration of whales can be found and during which the participants will be accompanied by a biologist specializing in the subject, who will give a detailed explanation of some interesting facts on the behaviour and habits of this impressive and wonderful mammal.

Prior to the tour in the open sea, visitors can enjoy a short lecture on environmental education and the most common and essential procedures for whale watching.
