Iberostate Praia do Forte is located in a region of major environmental importance in Brazil, the Northern Coastline Environmental Protection Area, set up in 1992 by the Bahia State Government as a component of the National Environment Policy to prevent and remediate the potential impact on local ecosystems and alleviate alterations to the social and economic context following the construction of the Green Line Highway (BA-099) on which the Iberostar Complex is located.
The Northern Coastline EPA of the Bahia State consists of a coastal strip 10 kilometers deep and 142 kilometers long, following the route of the Green Line Highway. It covers 142,000 hectares and stretches across the districts of Entre Rios, Esplanada, Conde, Jandaíra and Mata de São João (where Praia do Forte is located), including areas of exceptional natural beauty.
With its varied ecosystems and natural landscapes, the Northern Coastline EPA of Bahia merits and demands all this environmental care and awareness from both the Government of Bahia at official level, as well as from the local population, tourists and visitors to the area. Its Atlantic Forest remnants, swamps, dunes, coral reefs, and wetlands (marshes and lagoons) and mangrove swamps, as well as its rivers and beaches, are national environmental treasures, containing various species of flora and fauna that coexist in ecosystems that in addition to providing marvelous moments for contemplation and tranquility in the midst of so much natural beauty, form vital natural areas responsible for the viability and quality of life of our generation and those to come. This local protection is of immense global significance.
