IBEROSTATE develops an ecological road in Brazil

1 Oct 2011

Thanks to the agreement reached between the Iberostate Golf Villas & Condos residential group and the Prefecture of Praia do Forte in Bahía, the construction of an ecological road has been completed so visitors can enjoy the local fauna and flora in their natural habitat.

The ecovía is a road construction that fully respects the environment, with a sustainable design and low environmental impact. It is 1.5 miles (2.5 km) long and connects the town of Praia do Forte with the Iberostate residential complex. Promoted by Iberostate Golf Villas & Condos, its construction was possible thanks to the agreements with and the support of the local Prefecture, and just as the current General Manager of Iberostate Praia do Forte, Javier Trinidad, stated “The creation of a new road is supported by the local Prefecture, not only because it contributes to the development and growth of the area, but also it positively favored the respect and conservation of the area."

The ecovía is now open to traffic for the enjoyment of the entire community. There are different ways to travel the road, either on foot, or by non contaminating transportation, including bicycles and the electric zero emission cars that the residential complex offers its home owners. Developed to fully respect the environment, the road is surrounded by an exuberant natural ecosystem of fauna and flora and is mainly made up of tropical forest inhabited by different birds, reptiles, bromeliads and other local species. Along the road, Iberostate has placed several information points with informative panels so visitors can learn about the habitat and try to identify the different species. Also along the road, there are coconut water kiosks and 24-hour security posts on both sides - one in the Iberostar complex and the other in the Humpback Whale Project headquarters.

The Praia do Forte beach is located to the northeast of Brazil and is considered as one of the prettiest beaches of the country. It forms part of the Coconut Palm Coast. This exquisite shoreline has kilometers of practically desert beaches amidst a natural reserve with abundant vegetation, fine white sand and crystal clear waters.

The town of Praia do Forte is one of the most emblematic destinations of Bahía, with 1,800 inhabitants. This old fishermen's town still preserves its rustic charm while it has adapted to the times to offer visitors a leisure area with bars, restaurants and shops that sell local handicrafts. Thanks to the new ecovía, the beach and town are well connected - an alternative way for enjoying the natural reserve much more conveniently.
