Thursday February 12 saw the start of the great Bahian Carnival, which continued until what is known as  'Ash Wednesday', on February 18. The event is the biggest public party in the world, attracting more than a million tourists to Bahia every year. This year, the party had a "30 years of Axé Music" theme and will follow the three traditional circuits: The Dodô Circuit, from the Barra quarter to Ondina; the Osmar Circuit, in the Campo Grande area; and the Batatinha circuit, in Pelourinho.

This exhilarating event brings together all the big names in Axé Music, while also leaving room for other types of Brazilian and international music, showing that it is a party where all styles are welcomed and enjoyed by those present.

The Carnival is a tradition that has become woven into the history of Bahia State and, in recognition of its importance, Iberostate Praia do Forte will pay tribute to it at an event on February 28, where there will be plenty of special treats and attractions for guests.

As one of the most famous carnival tunes says, "Bahia is carnival". Bahia is the land of saints, enchantments, and Axé.
