Praia do Forte

Praia do Forte is located on the east coast of Brazil (Latin America) and bordered by 10 countries. Brazil is the world's fifth largest country, both in terms of geographical area and population. Here you'll find the largest rainforest in the world, the Amazon. It is considered a biosphere reserve worldwide. Brazil has large oil and fresh water reserves and kilometers of breathtaking beaches.

The main language of the country is Portuguese. The Caribbean  music marked to the rhythm of samba and bossa-nova goes in line with the lively Brazilian character. Proof of this liveliness is Carnival in Bahía, considered the most popular international holiday. Brazilian cuisine, with African, Indigenous and Portuguese influences, is one of the most varied in the world. Each region offers typical dishes like the Feijoada (beef and pork stew),nécoras (small edible crabs),cangrejos de río (crayfish) or green bananas boiled in milk.

With a wealthy economy based on the agricultural, livestock-farming, mining and industrial sectors, the tourism sector annually attracts millions of visitors, which will increase in 2016 when the Olympic Games will be held.

Praia do Forte, and old fishing town in the state of Bahia, is located 44 miles (70 km) from Salvador, in an environmentally protected area with 7 miles (12 km)  of practically desert beach and abundant vegetation. It is known as the prettiest coast of Brazil.

Praia do Forte is close to amazing spots, and most especially the Mata Atlantica Biosphere Reserve where you can see turtles laying their eggs, the hunchback whale and the fantastic coral reef.

It is a wonderful area for practicing water and adventure sports since the average temperature is 82.4ºF (28ºC).

In the last years the local government has promoted investing in infrastructures, thus considerably improving access to the most beautiful areas of the coast. The resort is located on Rodovía BA 099, km 56.  4.9 miles (8 km) from Praia do forte, 46 miles (75 km) from Salvador de Bahía and about 37 miles (60 km) from the airport.

SEASONAL ACTIVITIES
Two activities that you must do in this natural setting rich with amazing fauna and flora are: watching sea turtles lay their eggs between September and March and whale watching in their natural habitat.
