The Limón Falls is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the Dominican Republic. Located in the Samaná mountain range, the Limón Falls is visited by thousands of tourists from all over the world not only for the incredible beauty of the waterfall itself but also for the pleasant and beautiful landscape which can be enjoyed on the way to it.

The landscape around the cascade helps you to discover the interesting history and norms of the local people. You will see small, vibrant-colored homes built with material from the region and plots of cultivated land surrounded by large expanses of palm trees. You can witness the daily use they give to the rivers and other traditional elements that will show you how the locals have adapted to the nature of the landscape which surrounds them.

The waterfall is hidden behind the wild vegetation on lower ground and in the palm trees, which paints the mountains of the Samaná range a deep shade of green. The Limón waterfall can be accessed by walking along the “El Café” hiking path or, indeed, on horseback. The latter is probably the most recommended option as it takes a more scenic route with natural, panoramic vantage points overlooking the wavy horizon of green hills.

When you reach the summit you will see that the trip was worthwhile. The 55-meter-high, spectacular cascade will leave you breathless. The cascade is composed of three chutes, from which the water flows, trickling down a solid green wall, the result of the presence of hundreds of ferns and the region’s high humidity level. It culminates in a natural pool formed by its fresh, crystal water, where you can enjoy a wholly relaxing swim that you will never forget!
