Attracted by the excellent business conditions of the Dominican Republic, the Ministry for Tourism –Mitur– received more than a dozen businessmen from the Principality of Asturias, who expressed their interest in setting up business on the island due to the magnificent investment opportunities.

The visit was made by a mission of representatives from 19 Spanish companies from the Principality of Asturias, the majority of which operate in the areas of food and drinks, water purification and treatment, and golf course design, among others. 

They were welcomed and guided by the Director of the Investment Promotion Department of the Ministry for Tourism, Manuel Pachecho, who gave a detailed explanation of all the advantages of investing in the country's tourism sector.

"The Dominican Republic has one of the most Liberal Foreign Investment Laws in the Americas, which grants foreigners the same treatment as nationals, guaranteeing equal conditions for all. This, added to the significant tourism incentives guaranteed by Law 158-01, are fundamental tools for the establishment and development of your company", said Pacheco.

Additionally, he stated that the solid democracy enjoyed in the country, which holds elections every 4 years and where leadership changes are executed calmly and seamlessly, together with its economic stability, are perfect conditions which serve to embellish the attractions of the country.

For their part, the businessmen requested continued contact and additional information, and so the permanent rapprochement and the due support on the part of the Ministry will be maintained. They also expressed their interest in setting up business and making large investments in the island, as well as holding exchanges with businessmen already incorporated in the Dominican Republic.

Missions such as this, during which foreign businessmen are offered the due guidance as regards operating in the country's business climate, are a constant feature of the work of the Mitur.
